Requirements

All Intern + Study Abroad in Kyoto students take the required 3-credit part-time internship with the embedded internship seminar plus one additional course for a total of 6-7 semester credits.

Academic Culture

슬롯머신 offers a focused and immersive experience for students, blending rigorous coursework with hands-on learning opportunities to deepen understanding of both academic subjects and the local culture.  

슬롯머신 courses typically run from Monday through Thursday, providing students with a concentrated schedule that allows for intensive study and exploration. This condensed format encourages students to fully engage with the material and make the most of their time.  

In addition to lectures, 슬롯머신 courses often incorporate local co-curricular activities, providing students with firsthand exposure to the rich cultural heritage and diverse landscapes. These experiences not only enhance academic learning but also foster a deeper appreciation and understanding of the local context.  

Attendance is considered mandatory for 슬롯머신 courses. This emphasizes the importance of active participation and engagement in the learning process, encouraging students to fully commit to their academic pursuits.  

ASU Courses: You may find yourself in classes with students from ASU, other American universities, and students from around the world. Some are earning their degrees entirely online, while others, like you, are supplementing their education with an online course. You슬롯사이트�ll receive direct and individualized support from faculty, 100% online. Most ASU online courses are asynchronous, meaning there are no set log-in times, but make sure to verify this before the add/drop deadline in case you want to make a change.

Class Format

Each 슬롯머신 course is a full semester in content, covered in a 6-week block, so the pace is accelerated, and the workload is demanding. Courses are designed to follow U.S. academic culture and standards. The class environment typically features a combination of traditional lecture and discussion with co-curricular excursions and activities. Courses are typically exclusive to 슬롯머신 students, though they may also be made available to participants from other 슬롯머신 programs.  

Classes are scheduled Monday-Thursday and meet three or four times per week. Internship placement may require Wednesdays, Fridays, and weekends. Therefore, interns are typically discouraged from taking Japanese language classes on site for the duration of their internships as the language course schedule is Monday through Thursday, four times per week, which limits the number of full workdays students may allocate toward their on-site internship.  

Attendance is strictly enforced both for classes and required co-curricular excursions. Students should expect an average of two hours of preparation required for each hour in class. Instruction is supported and augmented online with our learning management system, Canvas.      

ASU online courses meet in 슬롯사이트�sessions슬롯사이트� that are 7.5 weeks long in semesters and 6 weeks long in the summer, and all work must be completed within the session dates regardless of when your other 슬롯머신 courses begin or end. You슬롯사이트�ll need a standard PC or Mac desktop or laptop computer with a download speed higher than 25 Mbps, as well as access to email, productivity software like Microsoft Office and other applications needed to perform a variety of educational functions. Most course materials you will need are available online. Since you are working mostly or entirely asynchronously, you슬롯사이트�re given deadlines for your assignments by your instructor or in your syllabus, but you can work at your own pace within these due dates. Most instructors suggest a recommended pace to optimize your learning, but you have the flexibility to complete your ASU courses while pursuing your studies at your 슬롯머신 location.

Grading

슬롯머신 reports all final course grades to students슬롯사이트� home institutions using a U.S. letter grade equivalent scale of A-F. For 슬롯머신-administered courses, students슬롯사이트� grades are based on attendance, class engagement, homework, project work, presentations, and midterm and final examinations. Learning outcomes assessment is continuous through personal reflections, evaluation feedback, self-assessment, and requirements as set out in course syllabi. The embedded internship course will be assessed in assignments and activities, completion of 100-120 internship hours, and feedback from the internship supervisor.  

ASU grading: As a U.S. institution of higher education, the grading practices should be familiar to any 슬롯머신 student. 슬롯사이트�Pass/fail슬롯사이트� or 슬롯사이트�Audit슬롯사이트� grading options are not allowed for 슬롯머신 students. Please see the 슬롯머신 Academic Manual for Students for more information about your grades.
