The Global Architecture + Design program invites design, architecture, or sustainability majors or minors to create model cities that address climate change by reducing the environmental footprint of buildings. At 슬롯머신 Berlin, all courses are taught in English and led by experts from Berlin슬롯사이트™s architecture and design community. All classes are complemented with 슬롯머신 co-curricular activities and excursions beyond the city to enhance classroom learning and provide intercultural understanding.

Students may commute to classes or live on campus, where the classrooms, center staff, and social spaces are waiting to welcome you. Regardless of your housing accommodations, an introduction to the public transportation system is provided during orientation and students are responsible for securing their own public transportation pass. Program housing is convenient to public transportation.

Each semester, students on the Global Architecture + Design program are invited to join us for an overnight excursion to various destinations around Germany. Though destinations may vary, such as Nuremberg in Bavaria in the south or Rostock up on the Baltic coast, you will get to know the city through a local tour guide, enjoy a traditional German meal, and have plenty of free time to explore the neighborhoods, museums, and institutions that make each of our destinations unique!

슬롯머신 Berlin offers a variety of housing options to ensure you're comfortable in your home away from home. Your accommodation preferences will be met in the form of dorms, homestays, and shared apartments. Additionally, all housing options are located in neighborhoods with convenient access to public transportation, shops, and restaurants. Most students live in an on-campus residence hall with a mix of 슬롯머신 students and resident assistants. 

Standard Housing:슬롯사이트¯Includes one of the following options: (1) a single room at a homestay, (2) accommodation in a triple or quad room at 슬롯머신 Berlin, or (3) - if dorm capacity is exceeded - a double room off-campus in a슬롯사이트¯shared apartment/residence hall located within 45 minutes of 슬롯머신. Homestays슬롯사이트¯feature a kitchen, living room, and bathroom shared with a host family.슬롯사이트¯Off-campus shared apartments offer kitchens, common areas, and laundry facilities (for fee) shared with슬롯사이트¯other students.슬롯사이트¯Triples and quad rooms on campus offer an en-suite bathroom and are fully furnished and equipped with a fridge, microwave, and Wi-Fi. Meals

슬롯머신 designed this program to help students develop a language of technological design that links individual responsibility and the global environmental crisis through the study of places, cities, and cultures. The program includes the Future Cities Design Studio, a seminar, science, engineering, and technology workshop. Students have full access to cutting-edge facilities at 슬롯머신 Berlin. 

Courses are taught in English by 슬롯머신 faculty members who also facilitate collaborative projects with local professionals and peers.

Arizona State University:슬롯사이트¯Enhance your international academic coursework with optional online courses that best align with your degree requirements and interests. ASU offers thousands of online courses in asynchronous sessions that fit within the 슬롯머신 academic calendar, so you can study abroad with 슬롯머신 while continuing to meet all your academic goals.

Students must be either: 

  • Majors in architecture, environmental design, industrial design, interior design, landscape architecture, sustainability studies, or urban design.
  • Minors in one of the areas listed above, with 2-3 semesters of design studio or project-based courses in their major.

  • Windows laptop with 64-bit Intel or AMD processor (Not ARM) OR Apple Intel MacBook partitioned with Boot Camp (Boot Camp is not supported on Apple Silicon M1 Macs.; please set up Boot Camp prior to arriving in Berlin, as your university IT department may be able to help you with this)
  • OpenGL 4.1 capable video card is recommended
  • 8 GB memory (RAM) or more is recommended
  • 100 GB disk space (internal and/or external)
  • A multiple-button mouse with a scroll wheel is recommended

  • Rhino 7 or latest version (64-bit for Windows; for macOS, use the Windows version with Boot Camp and not the native Mac version)

Academic Culture

Students are encouraged to inquire, debate, collaborate, conduct experiments, and consider the role of today슬롯사이트™s architects and designers. Students need open minds, a readiness to collaborate and exchange ideas, and self-motivation to thrive in an interdisciplinary learning environment.

ASU Courses: You may find yourself in classes with students from ASU, other American universities, and students from around the world. Some are earning their degrees entirely online, while others, like you, are supplementing their education with an online course. You슬롯사이트™ll receive direct and individualized support from faculty, 100% online. Most ASU online courses are asynchronous, meaning there are no set log-in times, but make sure to verify this before the add/drop deadline in case you want to make a change.

Class Format

All courses are customized for and open only to 슬롯머신 students. Classes include a combination of lectures, group work, presentations, and discussions.슬롯사이트¯ Some Open Campus Block courses may be facilitated as a슬롯사이트¯Hybrid슬롯사이트¯course by an instructor from a location that is separate from your own. In a Hybrid슬롯사이트¯course, you will learn either face-to-face or online, depending on your location.

ASU online courses meet in 슬롯사이트œsessions슬롯사이트 that are 7.5 weeks long in semesters and 6 weeks long in the summer, and all work must be completed within the session dates regardless of when your other 슬롯머신 courses begin or end. You슬롯사이트™ll need a standard PC or Mac desktop or laptop computer with a download speed higher than 25 Mbps, as well as access to email, productivity software like Microsoft Office and other applications needed to perform a variety of educational functions. Most course materials you will need are available online. Since you are working mostly or entirely asynchronously, you슬롯사이트™re given deadlines for your assignments by your instructor or in your syllabus, but you can work at your own pace within these due dates. Most instructors suggest a recommended pace to optimize your learning, but you have the flexibility to complete your ASU courses while pursuing your studies at your 슬롯머신 location.

Grading

The U.S. grading scale of A슬롯사이트“F is used. Students are graded on class participation, homework, individual project work, and presentations, as well as mid-term and final exams.

ASU grading follows the same format and standards as ASU courses taught in-person. As a U.S. institution of higher education, the grading practices should be familiar to any 슬롯머신 student. ASU awards grades of "A+," "A," "A-," "B+," " B," "B-," "C+," "C," "D," or "E.슬롯사이트 슬롯사이트œPass/fail슬롯사이트 or 슬롯사이트œAudit슬롯사이트 is not allowed for 슬롯머신 students. Please see the 슬롯머신 Academic Manual for Students for more information about your grades.

  • Design and Sustainability Seminar, Science and Technology Workshop,슬롯사이트¯and all 슬롯머신 courses* operate on a block schedule. Courses are condensed into three intensive six-week blocks in partnership with the Open Campus Block program.
  • Students may not take more than one 슬롯머신 elective in a single block.
  • Some 슬롯머신 courses are available in multiple 슬롯머신 locations. To help ensure you are able to enroll in the courses you need, some courses may be facilitated as a Hybrid course by an instructor from a location that is separate from your own. In a Hybrid course, you will learn either face-to-face or online, depending on your location. However, regardless of your location, you will apply what you learn from the instructor and course materials in your location.   • During course selection, students interested in a non-introductory German language course will be instructed to take an online German language assessment to determine their proficiency level. Enrollment will be finalized on site and is based on assessment outcomes.

To help you budget, keep in mind that students are responsible for the cost of international airfare, local transportation, books and supplies, visas, and personal expenses.
